Genus Care and Tecnovida entor into collaboration with Universidad de Salamanca
Genus Care heads to Spain
And yes, we're kind of excited about it.
It is always exciting to see an idea travel. And right now, Genus Care is making the trip to Spain, not just as a product, but as part of a genuine research collaboration with one of Europe's oldest universities.
Together with Universidad de Salamanca and Spanish partner Tecnovida, Genus Care is rolling out 25 Genus devices and sensors inside the university's Living Lab. Think of it as a real-world testing ground where care technology meets everyday life — not a sterile lab, but an actual environment where people live, move around, and have opinions.
Supported by RVO
Expanding internationally takes more than ambition - it takes the right partners, the right timing, and honestly, a bit of financial backbone. We're grateful that RVO (the Netherlands Enterprise Agency) recognised the potential of Genus Care for international markets and backed this demonstration project. That kind of support doesn't just help with logistics; it's a vote of confidence that this technology is worth bringing to new corners of Europe.
The part that actually matters
Last Saturday, we presented the system to local citizens in Salamanca. No pitch decks, no conference rooms, just real people reacting to technology that's designed around them. Their engagement was the highlight of the whole project so far, because that's exactly the point: care tech should make sense to the people using it, not just to the engineers building it.
What happens next
The demonstration project invites organisations from around Spain to see Genus in the flesh, used by caregivers, family and seniors. Furthermore, the pilot wraps up with a scientific evaluation by Universidad de Salamanca. That means independent, evidence-based conclusions - the kind that actually move conversations forward in healthcare and policy circles.
If it goes well? Spain is just the beginning.
